Summer is nearly over, and at the Ranch, we feel that we have been totally successful in accomplishing our mission to provide a safe, loving environment and influencing the emotional, physical and spiritual development of the young men in our care.
Education has been a primary focus, with Staff and Tutors gathering Ranchers together to help them catch up to their current educational age level. Two of our young men graduated, due to diligent prompting from Georgina Hill, our Education Coordinator, and her team of tutors. They have new computers this year which helps with E2020. They have also had hands on classes in cooking and field trips to study the earth with Ms. Rachael, and even some Job Shadowing Programs set up by Ms. Georgina. Hard work has been rewarded with trips to the lake, Michigan Adventure, Hawk Island, a Dodgeball Tournament, a Mud Run, and the Global Leadership Conference.
As always, 4H was high on our list of approved activities with nine Ranchers participating in the areas of horsemanship, sheep and goats; one boy was even rewarded with a ribbon for his flower box creation.
Through it all, the boys learned the value of hard work, individual, useful skills, as well as valuable lessons in working together as a team.
Yes, it has been a very successful summer for the Sunny Crest Ranchers!
