A Safe Place for Kids
Sunny Crest Youth Ranch is an open residential home for boys. Many of whom have come to the ranch through the court systems due to abuse and neglect they have faced.
It is our mission to provide a safe, loving environment that positively influences the social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of young men and their communities.
We are a unique residential treatment facility for abused and neglected boys, ages 10–17. It is located on 80 acres of rural land in Sunfield, Michigan and is a working ranch operation that is designed to provide the experiences and activities every child must have to develop and mature into a responsible adult. Combining this safe and structured atmosphere with our Program has proven an effective way to help break the cycle of destructive life patterns too many kids endure.
SCYR utilizes a line staff model in the supervision and implementation of their programming. Staff are trained and emphasis is placed on the therapeutic relationship as a leads to building trust and ultimately positive change. The Relationships that staff build allow them to utilize their skills to teach basic values, daily life skills, social skills, and virtues as well as helping youth with developing problem solving skills.
We are accepting referrals of young men between the ages of 10 and 17 years old. Referrals are accepted primarily from the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) and Local Court Systems. We also accept private pay referrals.
The youth who are served by Sunny Crest Youth Ranch are those who DHS and the Court System have determined need out of home placement in a structured, open environment that offers 24 hour a day / 7 day a week supervision by staff that have experience working with youth who are at-risk. In addition, youth receive individual and group counseling services to address trauma and related issues which have necessitated their placement.
