The Capital Region Community Foundation has kindly granted Sunny Crest Youth Ranch a charitable grant of $4,400.00 designated toward building the Sunny Crest Stables.
Currently, Sunny Crest Youth Ranch has eighteen Ranchers and seven horses. Our horses are a major part of our Therapeutic Animal Program. To quote Winston S. Churchill, "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." We have seen this quote in action at Sunny Crest as we watch our Ranchers interact with our horses.
The new stable is vital to the Ranch because our original barn has come to function as wood and maintenance shops which help the boys learn new skills. The Sunny Crest Stables will have four horse stalls and eight to ten sheep pens. In addition, it will have adequate storage areas for hay, feed, tack, and farm equipment.
The mission of the Capital Region Community Foundation is “to serve the charitable needs and enhance the quality of life in Michigan's Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties. We do that by helping people and organizations establish permanent, charitable endowment funds that serve our community today ... and forever.” CRCF is "The Center for Charitable Giving", a public resource for donors, professional advisors, non-profit agencies, municipalities, corporations, and others who have questions about how to achieve their charitable goals. CRCF is a Tax Exempt, 501(c)(3) public charity, that is a non-political, philanthropic organization.
