Last Friday, as I was sitting secluded in My Corner Office, I began to hear eager whispers of an outing planned for the afternoon. It seems that the outing was a reward purchased with Sunny Crest Bucks, earned by good behavior and hard work in summer school. Everyone involved was very enthusiastic. As it turned out, it was a kind of progressive activity event. There were several stops with a planned activity at each stop.
There was a stop at West Elementary where they played basketball and had their pictures taken in their best shot pose. Then there was a stop at the park followed by time spent swimming at the beach. After their swim they went for special treat at the Dairy Queen where Ms. Marilyn treated them to ice cream and gave each of them a special cross bookmark.
At the end of the day there was a stop for a special gift at the home of Grandma and Grandpa Flessner. The gift was a water gun contraption that shot 5 to 10 feet. You can imagine what happened after that! It didn’t matter, though, because they had all been swimming and besides that, it was raining so they were going to get wet anyway. All I can say about that is, for Grandma and Grandpa, it was a good idea to stay out of the way, because there was no stopping the boys or the workers who were with them.
