What benefits does our program seek to achieve?

Sunny Crest Youth Ranch will provide “a safe place for kids” that are abused and neglected, and have come to the attention of the court and need a structured environment. While this alone is a worthy goal, there are additional substantive goals and outcomes that we seek and can reasonably expect to achieve with our programs and activities.

Some of these include:

• Reduce recidivism and cost to the community

• Break the cycle and provide a model for a safe productive family

• Progress and achievement in reading and mathematics

• Development of self-reliance, motivation and personal values

• Increase in positive goal-directed behavior

• Pro-social communication skills

• Discovery and development of personal interests and aptitudes

• Increased skills in problem-solving and communication

• Development of independent living skills

• Growth of virtues and personal integrity

• Common Sense Parenting classes offered to the community

• Parent education training, mentoring and after care

• The Ranch will include the community in the solution

• Dedicated to building green

Building Green – A Way Of Life

Building Green is more than just a little more insulation. It’s changing a mind-set. Deciding to build green is more than deciding to add certain energy saving technologies to your building project. In fact, it may involve very little technology at all. Building green is basing your decisions on a holistic understanding of the needs of your organization, the realities of the external environment it impacts, and the way building systems work together. Building Green will not only teach the boys about being energy conscious. Ranchers will also learn how to be good stewards of our environment by participating in the environmentally friendly practices at the Ranch. Additionally, community service projects will be utilized to promote the understanding of the benefits of serving others.
